Load is a primary functional characteristic, but the result is not determined by the spring alone. Equipment, fixtures, travel path and reading time affect repeatability.

Fixture the real load path

Compression platens should remain parallel and long springs may need guidance. Extension fixtures should not twist hooks, and torsion grip points must match the specified moment arm.

Standardize the loading sequence

Preset cycles, approach direction, dwell and speed should be consistent. Path effects become more visible when friction or initial tension is present.

Match resolution to tolerance

An oversized force range or low displacement resolution can distort tight-tolerance results. Instrument capacity, calibration and fixture stiffness must suit the part.

Use one method across supplier and customer

Many disputes come from different methods. Drawings and inspection plans should define height, angle, grip, direction and acceptance range.
